Dad's Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
Cookies
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoon extract (vanilla, almond or coconut)
3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

Paint
2 egg yolks
2 teaspoons water
Food coloring

Directions
Beat together butter and sugar in a large bowl. Add eggs and extract and mix again well. Stir in dry ingredients. Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Preheat oven to 350°F and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. Roll dough on a lightly floured board then cut into desired shapes. Or shape with your hands and press into desired shapes on baking sheets. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until cookies are just starting to brown on the edges; let cool completely. Stir together egg yolks and water in a small bowl, then divide mixture into smaller bowls and add a few drops of food coloring to each. Use a small paint brush or q tip to paint colors onto cookies. Makes about 2 to 3 dozen cookies, depending on size.

Peanut Butter Brownies
Prepare 1 box brownie mix according to package directions. Spread batter in pan then top with small dollops of peanut butter. Use a knife to swirl peanut butter through brownie batter. Top with peanuts and bake according to package directions.
