REDDING, CA - They lined up in Redding Monday to hear 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin speak. SLIDESHOW

Palin, now a Fox News commentator, was scheduled to give two speeches at the Redding Convention Center Monday at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The tickets cost between $54 and $74. The 7 p.m. talk was sold out in about 36 hours when tickets went on sale in November, according to the Redding Record-Searchlight. The center seats about 2,000 people.

In Palin's afternoon appearance, she blasted big government and the Obama administration for failing on the economy, healthcare and national security. There was frequent applause and standing ovations.

Palin fans like Becky Callas of Chico were glad they came.

"Yeah, that was awesome," said Callas. "We were so psyched to be that close to her and get to see her in person and to see her daughter and she's brilliant!"

Cathi LeFleur of Redding said she agreed with Palin's stance for smaller government and would vote for her if she ran for president.

No cameras were allowed into the convention center.

Palin's appearance was being hosted by the Sierra-Cascade Logging Conference.
