SACRAMENTO, CA - The woman being held on suspicion of hitting a bicyclist and fleeing until a Good Samaritan grabbed her car keys to stop her had her bail increased Monday.

Amira Fakira's bail was upped to $175,000 from $50,000 and she was ordered to remain in jail custody.

Fakira, 23, is alleged to have struck Sanjay Patel, 26, in her SUV Jan. 31 on Folsom Boulevard and then sideswiped another car.

The Ford Explorer was reportedly weaving across the two traffic lanes of westbound Folsom Boulevard before it drifted into the bike lane, hit Patel and dragging him a quarter mile, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Johnathan Hobson and his wife witnessed the incident. Hobson said he followed Fakira and was able to snatch her ignition keys when she stopped at a signal. His wife stayed behind to help Patel, who was hospitalized in serious condition.

Fakira is suspected of felony hit and run and driving under the influence.
