The drought and turmoil in Somalia has claimed thousands of lives many of them children. Many international relief organizations are lending a hand, but their efforts can not continue on good will alone, it takes money to ship supplies, equipment, food and other necessary items.
Ross Hammond is a Sacramento based jazz musician who saw the reports of the suffering in Somalia and was moved to action. He put the word out to the music community, asking for for participation in a benefit concert to help raise money for Doctors Without Borders, an organization helping in Somalia.
The response was overwhelming and on Saturday, September 3, Ross along with a host of other musicians are holding "March to the Beat of One Heat," a Somalian Aid Concert. Ross talks about the event with host Guy Farris and performs a special song.
