World War 1 Donut Girl
Salvation Army - Gals with pies
Homemade Donuts, simply the best!
Semi-final step - frying the dough
Friday, June 3rd, is National Doughnut Day, a day originally created by The Salvation Army in 1938 to honor the women who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War 1 (often the only times women were allowed anywhere near a battlefield).
Captain Hendrik Sumter and his wife Eugenia Sumter, from the Salvation Army joined us to share more about this sweet holiday and to show us how easy it is to make homemade donuts! (they are fluffier and lighter than store brought donuts!)
