NORTH HIGHLANDS, CA - Sheriff's deputies say a young woman shot and several people detained in a drive-by shooting in North Highlands Friday afternoon were not talking.

Sacramento County sheriff's Deputy Jason Ramos said the first 911 call came in at 2:23  p.m. that a shot was fired from a car at a group of young people in the area of Rosario Boulevard and Santa Fe Way.

When deputies arrived, they found the victim at a residence with a non-threatening wound to her back, Ramos said.

Deputies learned several individuals had returned fire at the car. Ramos said those people were identified and have been detained. However, no one was providing further information on what transpired.

Sheriff investigators were checking into whether there was a gang connection to the shooting.
