SACRAMENTO, CA - SkyWest Flight 5427 reported a fire in its cargo-hold as it approached Sacramento International Airport at noon Tuesday.

There were 28 on board the aircraft, said Sacramento City Fire Battalion Chief Niko King.

The plane landed safely about 12:08 p.m. According to fire department responders, there was no sign of fire on the aircraft.

"It is kind of nerve-racking when you see the fire crews waiting for you when the plane is landing," said passenger Mike Sullivan.

The plane departed Sacramento International for San Francisco International before turning back.
