ELK GROVE, Calif. - A woman was carjacked Monday afternoon while parked in the lot of an Elk Grove Kohl's store on the 9600 block of Bruceville Road.

Officer Chris Trim of the Elk Grove Police Dept. said the woman was sitting in her car at approximately 11:59 a.m. when a man approached her open driver's side window. The woman attempted to roll up her window, but the man placed his arm on the glass, preventing her from doing so.

The man, armed with a handgun wrapped in a cloth, then got into the car and shoved the woman over to the passenger seat, said Trim.

According to Trim, the man began to drive away when another driver pulled up in a separate vehicle and honked the horn. The suspected carjacker then told the woman to get out. The woman grabbed her purse, got out and the man drove away with the vehicle and the woman's cell phone.

The carjacker was described as a man between 22 to 23 years old being of Pacific Islander decent, 6'1" tall, 250 pounds, with brown eyes and long hair worn in a pony tail. He was last seen wearing a blue short-sleeve shirt with a white collared t-shirt underneath, a pair of blue jeans and white shoes. Trim said the suspect spoke with a Hispanic accent.

The stolen vehicle was described as a maroon, 2002 Mitsubishi Galant, license # 5EEW575. It has a dent on the right rear side and a "Baby on Board" placard on the rear window.
