SACRAMENTO - Both sides of the ever-heated gun control debate will face off Tuesday morning at the State Capitol.

Many California lawmakers say this is long overdue, and they should have looked at strengthening our current gun control laws a long time ago.

The state already has some of the toughest gun regulations in the country, but some believe those regulations have room for improvement.

On her website, California Senator Loni Hancock outlined a lot of what was expected to take place at the Capitol Tuesday.

The hearing, dubbed 'Gun Violence and Firearms law in California', will be a joint meeting of both the Assembly and Senate Public Safety Committees.

Among those scheduled to testify include police officers, researchers, and advocates of gun-violence prevention, and members of gun ownership organizations.

The public hearing is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. through noon and will include a brief video on the history of California's gun laws, as well as a live demonstration of various weapons to highlight the difference between legal and illegal firearms.
