DAVIS, CA - A woman was assaulted in broad daylight on Saturday in what Davis police called a "bold and brazen attack" on church property.
According to police, the suspected attacker threatened the victim with some sort of weapon, sexually assaulted her and then robbed her just before noon on the Davis Community Church grounds.
Church officials said the woman wasn't a church-goer, but may have been passing by to go to the farmer's market.
On Monday around 2:20 p.m., Davis police arrested a man in connection to the assault. Lt. Glenn Glasgow said a resident called police to report seeing a man described in the case in a West Davis shopping area.
When officers arrived in the area, they spotted 25-year-old transient Christopher Turk. Police searched Turk and found physical evidence on him that connected him to the assault, Glasgow said.
Turk was taken into custody without incident; he was booked into Yolo County Jail for sexual assault, robbery, burglary, false imprisonment and sexual battery.
