WOODLAND, CA - A Woodland Polytechnic student was arrested Friday morning for bringing weapons onto campus.

The 17-year-old boy was arrested at the school, located at 1250 East Gum Avenue, around 10:30 a.m., Yolo County sheriff's Sgt. Hern Oviedo said.

Deputies responded to the school after administrators searched the teen's backpack and found a spring active BB gun and a 3-inch folding knife on campus, Oviedo said.

Administrators heard rumors that the teen threatened another student the day before, which lead them to search his backpack Friday.

Oviedo said the 17-year-old was arrested and booked into Yolo County Juvenile Hall.
