STOCKTON, CA - Detectives investigating the murder of a Stockton market clerk last month have identified a suspect.

They're looking for 21-year-old Richard Alcaraz, said Officer Joe Silva.

Alcaraz is believed to be one of two individuals who went into Paisano's Market at 2460 E. Main Street on Nov. 17 and stole two cases of beer, Silva said. The two returned about half an hour later and one of them ran up to the front of the store and fired multiple rounds into the building, fatally wounding employee Majad Ali Awnallah, 37.

Alcaraz was described as 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds. He is considered armed and dangerous.

There is a murder warrant issued for his arrest.

The Stockton Police Department asked for anyone with information about Alcaraz or the shooting to call the Investigations Division at (209) 937-8323 or Crime Stoppers at (209) 946-0600. Callers can remain anonymous.

Citizens may also text information from their cellphones to CRIMES (274637) and type the keyword TIPSPD and then their tip or log on to the Stockton Police Department's Facebook page and click "Submit A Tip."

Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
