ROSEVILLE, CA - A Roseville photographer has been charged with possession of obscene matter involving a person under the age of 18, according to the Roseville Police Department.
Officer Dee Dee Gunther said detectives began investigating 30-year-old Ronald Roy Buchanan Jr. in late November when an underage girl and her parents contacted the police department about their suspicion Buchanan had secretly videotaped the girl while she was changing clothes in a bathroom during a photo shoot. They also accused Buchanan of making inappropriate comments, Gunther said.
Based on the police investigation, Buchanan's line of work and that he has been a local club volleyball coach, Gunther said detectives think there could be other girls the suspect took pictures of without their knowledge while they were undressing.
Buchanan was booked into Placer County Jail on $250,000 bail.
"He has been very good and very respected in the community," said Buchanan's father-in-law, Keith Hart.
Hart said Buchanan resigned his position with Club Roseville Volleyball.
Buchanan enter a "not guilty" plea at his arraignment Monday. An early settlement conference hearing was set for Dec. 12.
