LONDON (AP) - A hospital nurse in London who was a victim of a much-publicized prank has died.

Hospital officials say the nurse had been fooled by two Australian disc jockeys who called the hospital this week, posing as Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles and asking for information on the condition of the Duchess of Cambridge -- who had been hospitalized with severe morning sickness.

The hospital says nurse Jacintha Saldanha transferred the call to another nurse, who was recorded telling the phony royals that the duchess hadn't been "retching" and was "sleeping on and off."

Police say the death of Saldanha is unexplained. She was found dead early Friday at apartments affiliated with the hospital where she worked for four years. A coroner will determine how she died. Police say they found nothing suspicious.

The hospital says "everyone is shocked by the loss."

St. James's Palace, the office of the duchess and Prince William, also expressed sadness.

The disc jockeys won't be returning to their jobs for awhile, according to their employer, Australian radio station 2DayFM.
