TRACY, CA - An allegation of inappropriate contact between a teacher and a student at a Tracy elementary school is being investigated.

Det. Sgt. Luis Mejia with the Tracy Police Department said officers were called to Traina Elementary School last Wednesday afternoon to investigate. Mejia would not elaborate further on the nature of the call.

Jefferson School District has placed the teacher on leave.

Mejia said the police department and school officials were cooperating in the investigation.

Parents who have children that attend the school said they didn't see this coming.

"I was in shock still trying to make out what's going on," said Dora Perez.

Perez said she has several children that attend school at Traina and believes the school is safe.

"I have not experienced anything with my kids, no issues love the school," said Perez.

The school district said they are providing  counselors for students.

School leaders would not say how long the teach that's currently under investigation has been employed at the school or  in the district.

Traina Elementary is located at 4256 Windsong Drive.
