Man identified in fatal stabbing at Placerville casino

PLACERVILLE, CA - A 19-year-old man was fatally stabbed at the Red Hawk Casino in Placerville Wednesday night.

According to El Dorado County sheriff's Sgt. Phil Chovanec, deputies were called to the casino at 1 Red Hawk Parkway at approximately 10:30 p.m. for a stabbing. The victim's friends took him to Marshall Hospital in Placerville for medical care but he did not survive his injuries, Chovanec said.

The dead man was identified as Gene McArn.

Where the stabbing took place and why was not clear.

Detectives have identified 30-year-old Estaphen Juarez as a person of interest in the case and were looking for him, Chovanec said. Juarez was described as Hispanic, 5 feet 2 inches tall, 145 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
