SACRAMENTO - A person was killed in a crash between a pick-up truck and a big rig on Interstate 5 in Sacramento Wednesday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of a Nissan pickup was traveling southbound on I-5 near W. El Camino Avenue around 10 a.m. when he hydroplaned, lost control, and the passenger side of his truck slammed into a big rig.

The passenger in the pick-up, a 20-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene, said officers.

The 21-year-old driver of the Nissan was transported to hospital with major, but non-life threatening injuries.
