Digital multimedia company AVerMedia Technologies has released a software update for its Game Capture HD standalone HD video capture device.  The update implements support for 1080p video at 60 fps.  According to the company, this makes the Game Capture HD the first standalone game video capture device in the industry which brings full frame rate progressive video game play.

The new firmware also brings along the ability to pause and resume the recording, which could be handy if users want to take a break from your game for a few minutes.  In other words, users now have the ability to continue to record to the same file, saving you time when it comes to editing your videos.

Furthermore, thanks to the built in H.264 video encoder in the Game Capture HD, users get high-quality video at bit-rates of up to 15Mbps, regardless of resolution and frame rate.  And unlike competing solutions, users do not need to have a computer next to the gaming console.  Instead, the Game Capture HD records directly to either a standard internal 2.5-inch hard disk drive, or an external USB drive.

This software update for the Game Capture HD is free of charge and available for download from AVerMedia's website.
