Marijuana grow raid in Ceres, Sept. 10, 2012

CERES, CA - When Ceres police executed a search warrant for a suspected marijuana grow Monday afternoon, they said they also found two horses who appeared to be malnourished and neglected.

Police Sgt. Jose Berber said the raid was made at a one-acre property on the 3800 block of Collins Road. According to Berber, neighbors had made a number of complaints about the smell of marijuana around the property which was surrounded by a 15-foot-high plywood fence.

The search yielded 80 pot plants, Berber said. The horses were taken by Stanislaus County Animal Control.

Berber said there were two 17-year-old teens in the home. They were not arrested.

The teens' parents were not home.

No arrests have been made at this time, Berber said.
