Ramsey Fire in Stanislaus National Forest, Aug. 13, 2012
CALAVERAS COUNTY, CA - Expect intermittent closures of a seven-mile stretch of Highway 4 in Calaveras County Tuesday as firefighters work the 800-acre Ramsey Fire burning in the North Fork area of Stanislaus River in Stanislaus National Forest.
Highway 4 was closed between Cottage Springs to the Cabbage Patch Caltrans maintenance station.
Fire officials described the terrain as steep and forested, requiring aerial firefighting support.
It was believed a campfire sparked the fire. It was still just 10 percent contained as of 2 p.m. Tuesday.
