'Mass Effect 3' by developer BioWare.
When the Wii U launches later this year, Nintendo gamers will be treated with something they've never experienced before: BioWare's Mass Effect 3.
The game will be among the Wii U's catalog of launch-time titles, but it won't be exactly like the game found on the other consoles and PC.
"[The Wii U version] has got a new weapon called the Laden," BioWare's Melanie Faulkner tells News10's Game Guys. "It's a heavy-duty weapon -- it's a problem-solver that hits six enemies at once."
A new gun isn't all that the Wii U edition of ME3 has going for it, as the Wii U's tablet controller allows for a number of gameplay changes as well. These include level maps for controlling squadmates via drag-and-drop, mappable buttons, and the ability to transfer the game from playing on the television to playing exclusively on the tablet controller itself.
Being that Mass Effect 3 will be the first title in the franchise released onto a Nintendo platform, Wii U owners will get a crash course in Mass Effect mythos through the inclusion of an interactive Dark Horse Comics digital graphic novel available on-disk.
"It's going to have the ME1 content and a new addition for ME2," explained Faulkner.
Published by EA, the Wii U edition of Mass Effect 3 is rated "M for Mature" by the ESRB. The official launch date for the game will be revealed once Nintendo publicly announces that of the Wii U itself.
