GRANITE BAY, CA - Placer County fire crews were called to Cavitt Ranch Place in Granite Bay around 3:45 Wednesday morning in response to an 8,000 square-foot mansion on fire.

According to the Placer County fire chief on scene, the fire may have started in the kitchen then spread through the walls of the home.

Firefighters entered the home and began containment efforts: Cutting through walls, ceilings, and floors to access the flames.

The mansion was undergoing work. According to the fire chief, construction began on the home years ago, then stopped for a long stretch. The current work began recently, but it was unknown whether the fire was caused by any construction work or equipment.

The fire chief said the fire was under investigation, but was not considered suspicious.

Nobody was hurt in the fire, but paramedics were standing by  as a precautionary measure.
