ELK GROVE, CA - Police officers responded to a two-car collision in Elk Grove Tuesday at 5:41 p.m.
Officer Chris Trim of the Elk Grove Police Dept. said arriving officers discovered a 2003 Ford Focus and 1991 Ford Mustang wrecked on Kammerer Rd. near McMillan Rd.
The driver of the Focus was alert and conscious, but was taken to a local hospital for treatment, said Trim.
The driver and passenger in the Mustang were pronounced dead at the scene. A report released by the Sacramento County Coroner's Officer identified the two victims as Ashley Simpson, 21, and Christopher Ragosa, 34, both of Elk Grove.
According to Trim, an ensuing investigation of the accident revealed Simpson was driving the Mustang westbound on Kammerer Rd. when she lost control of the vehicle. The Mustang crossed over into oncoming traffic and collided with the Focus traveling eastbound. The force of the collision pushed the Mustang into a roadside ditch, partially ejecting Simpson and resulting in fatal injuries to both occupants, Trim said.
No information was provided on why Simpson lost control of the vehicle.
Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department Traffic Bureau at (916) 478-8148.
