Mexico expels Tracy man wanted for murder in Calif.

EL PASO, Texas (AP) - West Texas authorities have arrested a man wanted for the 2010 murder of a California man during a botched robbery.

The U.S. Marshals Service said Monday that Emmanuel Matthew "Manny" Mendoza, 20, of Tracy, was arrested in El Paso after being expelled from Mexico.

He was wanted for the murder of Kevin Prater II, of Tracy.

Authorities in Mexico had detained Mendoza and determined he was living in the country illegally.

U.S. authorities say Mendoza is affiliated with the West Side Tracy Nortenos street gang. He was arrested by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, which includes law enforcement from Texas as well as the Marshals Service.

Mendoza is being held in the El Paso County jail and awaits extradition to California.
