Stockton jury convicts brothers in carjacking

STOCKTON, CA - Two brothers who are gang members are facing the possibility of life in prison after convictions for carjackng and street terrorism, says the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office.

Vincent Torres, 26, and his brother Raymond Torres, 22, were found guilty of carjacking, kidnapping to commit robbery, armed robbery and street terrorism by a Stockton jury.

The crimes took place Dec. 12, 2008. Lt. Kenneth Melgoza with the district attorney's office said the pair forced their three victims to drive around Stockton until Stockton police found the carjacked vehicle and there was a pursuit. Raymond Torres was captured after a short foot chase; his brother was located later after an investigation.

Sentencing is set for June 13 in San Joaquin County Superior Court.
