The role of a parent is to encourage their children to reach for their dreams. Other adults can also be a role model and share their professional expertise with young people and exposing them to countless career opportunities. 

Retired Air Force Colonel Thomas Sherman wanted to teach kids about the amazing world of aviation. He started a program called the Youth Aviation Academy and in partnership with various school districts is able to teach kids from elementary through high school about the basics of aviation and what it takes to become a pilot. Colonel Sherman is also a member of the Tuskegee Airmen and take his students on field trips and special events hosted by the organization in addition to other air show and aviation museums.
