Sacramento & Co. Biography: Kristen Simoes

Kristen SimoesKristen Simoes found an appreciation for broadcast news while doing a semester internship at Sacramento station News10 in the early 1990's. While her internship was in the Public Affairs
Department, Kristen was quickly drawn to the newsroom and the "fast paced" atmosphere and story telling aspect. Another internship at CNN in Atlanta during the summer Olympics sealed her fate -- and confirmed her desire to break into news.

After graduating from the award-winning broadcast journalism program at San Jose State University, Kristen found her first on-camera job in Chico, California where she eventually became weekend anchor and weekday reporter. She later worked in Santa Rosa, Modesto, and Sacramento and earned many accolades including an Emmy nod, for her news reporting.

Today Kristen works alongside Guy Farris as co-host of News10’s Sacramento & Company, where she has had the opportunity to interview Hollywood stars such as Denzel Washington, Jodie Foster, Jennifer Aniston, and Harrison Ford. She has also learned to expect the unexpected in live television. From cooking with celebrity chefs, to learning dance moves and dribbling with NBA stars, Kristen has found a love for the casual, upbeat, ever-changing ‘feel’ of morning television.

Her resume also includes feature reporting for several national cable programs covering everything from home and garden, to fitness and nutrition, travel, agriculture and more. Kristen lives in Sacramento, California, and in her free time enjoys all things outdoors, including running, gardening, hiking, home improvement projects, traveling, and spending time with her daughter, Halle.
