The 10th Annual National Wear Red Day event kicks off Heart Month on February 1st. Arden Fair mall hosted it's own Wear Red Day event today in order to raise awareness of the number one killer of women.

The Wear Red Day event featured free health screenings provided by Sutter Heart & Vascular Institute, a one-mile Go-Red strut around the mall with chances to with Macy's gift cards, coloring stations, and many other fun activities for the kids.

According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is responsible for 1of every 3 women's deaths per year, killing approximately one woman every minute. About 43 million women in the U.S. are affected by heart disease and 90 percent of women have one or more risk factors for developing heart disease.
